Where Do I Get My Hang Tag for My Permit?

Our monitoring system does not require hang tags. Your permit and account information is linked to your license plate, which eliminates the need for a physical hang tag.

By removing the need for a physical hang tag, we are able to maintain our price points as low as possible by not having to produce a physical product for you to purchase.

What's An AM/PM permit, How Do I Get One?

If you are an off-campus student who works on campus early in the morning (shift ends by 9 a.m.) or late at night (shift begins before 6 p.m.), you may be eligible for an AM or PM limited-time parking permission to accommodate your work schedule.

Send an email with the subject line “AM/PM permit” to muparking@missouri.edu with your name, your supervisor’s name, where you work and when. Once we verify your work schedule, we’ll let you know your options.

Are You Sold Out of Parking Permits?

Probably not, although anything leftover will likely be in a perimeter lot.

How Do I Move Parking Structures/Lots?

1. Email us requesting your cancellation

2. After receiving a confirmation email that your cancellation was processed, log back in and purchase a permit in the lot you want

We can't "move" one car from one to another in our system, which is why you are required to cancel and purchase a new permit. We also can't promise that there will be spaces left by the time you attempt to purchase your new permit location.

It is illegal to sell your current permit to another student. If you choose to sell it, it may result in your paying for the other student's tickets as well as a fine of $150.

What if I No Longer Need A Permit, or am No Longer A Student or an Employee On Campus?

If you are no longer a student at MU or need a parking permit, you will need to notify Parking & Transportation Services via email. Refunds are pro-rated if available.

Will I Have to Pay for Parking if I'm Attending an Event or Studying on Campus in the Evening?

Parking is enforced from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, except in restricted structures and surface lots, including Parking Structure 7 and Tiger Avenue (both structures over by MU Health Care), and some floors in Virginia Avenue Parking Structure that are designated for Residential Life students.

Lots restricted 24/7 also include Residential Life parking lots and surface lots, which are all noted as “restricted.”

The university has more than 75 surface lots and structures available on campus, most of which are unrestricted after 6 p.m. every day of the week. These include Turner Avenue, Conley Avenue and University Avenue parking structures, and most surface lots in the core campus.

I've Been Here For Years, But I'm Still In A Perimeter Lot. WTH.

If you are a senior, your priority date does arrive before underclassmen. We understand that some seniors end up parking in perimeter lots, unfortunately there are a finite number of core campus spaces that must also accommodate staff, faculty, professional students, as well as graduate students.

I Heard There Are Open Spots In Better Locations, How Do I Get One?

When spots in highly requested locations become available, we contact students based on the same criteria as the priority dates list. There is a deadline to accept the offer, if you don't accept the offer before the deadline expires, your request to change locations will be based on space availability.

Location

Why Can’t I Park In Core Campus?

Priority for core campus parking is given to those students who live in residence halls, graduate students, and professional students.

I Live Downtown, Why Can’t I Park Near My Apartment?

If you’re living off campus in a private apartment, sorority or fraternity house, you will probably get a perimeter lot assignment – regardless of your proximity to campus. If you need overnight parking, you will be assigned to SG4, behind the Hearnes Center.

You can also call the City of Columbia at 573-874-2489 to see if there is space available in a city parking structure or visit them online

Is It Safe For Me to Walk from a Perimeter Lot?

Yes. Safety is our first priority. If you are working/studying at MU after hours and want an officer to accompany you to your car, call MUPD at 573-882-7201 and they'll send a campus safety ambassador. We encourage everyone to take necessary precautions to maintain their own safety.

Additionally, Tiger Line shuttles run from 5 a.m. to midnight from Hearnes (SG4), 6 a.m. to midnight to Trowbridge (AV14) and 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. to Reactor Field (RP10, RP3) to provide a safe ride for students when school is in session. The GoMizzou app has a real-time map. Open maps and choose the Tiger Line icon on the bottom right side of your screen to view buses live on their routes.

Mizzou’s blue light emergency phones also are visible across campus, the phones connect directly with an MUPD dispatcher who will respond immediately.

Why Do I Have to Park So Far Away?

Basically: we have a finite number of spaces that were built in the middle of campus. If we could place extra spaces in core campus, we would, but the space required for that simply does not exist. It is a factor to weigh in your decision to attend a large university.

We understand that parking in perimeter lots can increase the time it takes to get to the core campus, which is why we operate a shuttle service exclusively for students at no extra charge. Shuttles run every 10-15 minutes during peak hours; it takes approximately 10-15 minutes for a shuttle from the perimeter lots to reach the core campus drop-off points.

See Tiger Line schedule here.

The GoMizzou app has a real-time map. Open maps and choose the Tiger Line icon on the bottom right side of your screen.

How Much Does Tiger Line Cost?

Tiger Line is included in your student fees, so there are no additional tickets or fees required.Find the Tiger Line schedule here.

What is Donations for Citations?

Donations for Citations allows an alternative payment for up to three citations each year. You may donate 10 full-size, non-perishable items in lieu of paying the actual citation dollar amount.

Your donations will go to Tiger Pantry, Mizzou’s on-campus food pantry for MU students, staff and faculty who are experiencing food insecurity or hunger.

Bring your items to the Parking & Transportation Office (Turner Avenue Parking Structure) within five days of receiving a citation. Be sure to check here for acceptable items.

This only applies to citations for no permission, permission does not apply or expired meter (up to $25 per citation) for a maximum of three citations per year.

Who Has Access to my Parking Account Information?

Your parking account information is covered under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), making access to this information restricted. Only the individual account holder is allowed to access their parking account information.

Why Can’t I Get Into the Portal?

The portal works in Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari and Explorer. Demand can be high at peak times. Refresh or try again later. There are plenty of spaces in perimeter lots.

Do not register as a visitor. This may delay your ability to purchase a permit. If you accidentally register as a visitor, please call us at 573-882-4568 to unlock your account.

Logging into the Tiger Park Portal on more than one device slows the process for you and your peers.

I'm Visiting Campus Outside of A Scheduled Event, Where Do I Park?

If you're visiting outside of an event (e.g. Family Weekend) you are responsible for purchasing a visitors permit. We do not require a permit for Friday after 6 p.m. through the following Monday at 7 a.m..

If you are visiting outside of those hours, you may choose to purchase a visitors permit here, or use city parking.

I Bought My Student A Permit And Didn't Get The Spot I Wanted

Unfortunately due to limited space on campus, we have a finite number of spots. Priority dates are put in place to assist students in gaining a higher chance of a more convenient parking space.

I'm Getting Billed for Parking Citations, But No One Will Tell Me Anything When I Call

Even if you bought your student a permit, as soon as that student is enrolled in MU, we are legally mandated to not discuss any of their private records without their written consent. This is a condition of FERPA, that protects your student's privacy. Unless we receive written consent from the student whose name the permit is under, we will not discuss the items on any bills.
